Gas Animal Classes: The Minnewaska Track began racing gas animal classes in 2004. We were the first track that we are aware of in the state to offer these classes. The purpose of the class was to offer families a less expensive engine that required less maintenance. This gave families an option of an engine that was less than half the price of the Briggs Flathead and did not require the continuous freshening being it was ran on pump gas instead of methanol, not to mention making it much easier and cheaper for people to pick up fuel for their karts. We worked hard to promote these new classes and hoped other tracks would look at adding them as well. As a track we are happy with the gas animal classes and don’t see any need to differ from our original idea of a reasonably priced engine that requires less maintenance, which was the sole purpose of the added class.

Minnewaska Area Go-Kart Racing Association

MAGKRA moved to a new location in 2007 and built an approximate 1/8 mile, slightly banked, clay, oval go-kart track in Westport. The track is located 10 miles west of Sauk Centre, on the north side of Hwy. 28.

Tailgate parking is located at the north and south sides of the track. There is no charge to watch the races from the tailgate area. If you want to enter any other areas of the facility you must purchase a $7 pit pass. All ages are welcome in our pit area.

A special thank you to the following businesses for their support. Gierke Farms, Villard Implement, 10 Mile Tavern, and Macey Construction.

If you know of any karting web sites you would like added to our Karting Links page send us an email and we will add the link.
